Waseda University Libraries The university has 22 libraries, including the Central Library, four Campus Libraries, School Libraries for each division, Students’ Reading Rooms and archives. These libraries together hold over 5.8 million books and closely cooperate to support various on and off-campus information needs. Please refer to the library website for service hours, conditions of library use, etc.|URL| https://www.waseda.jp/library/en/ The Central Library is one of the most extensive libraries in Japan. It has a large collection of highly-quality research materials, modern extensive facilities, a large number of professional staff, and approximately 600,000 visitors per year. The Central Library houses over 2.9 million books, 17 thousand academic journals, 2 National Treasures, 5 Important Cultural Properties, and other valuable materials including rare books and classical references. The library also provides access to various online databases and electronic journals, which are available to students both on and off-campus. Furthermore, we hold an event called “Library Week” every spring and fall, where we host various library-related events. Central Library Overview:(1) Location: Bldg. No. 18, Waseda Campus. (Entrance is on the 2nd Floor) Library Hours: School Terms: Monday–Saturday, 9:00–22:00Breaks: Monday–Friday, 9:00–20:00The library is closed on national holidays without classes, and the University holidays during the summer and winter breaks.(2) You will need your student I.D. card to enter the library.(3) The “WINE” online library catalog may be used to search for materials. Please visit the reference desk on the 2nd floor for assistance in retrieving research material and other such services. (4) A total of 15 volumes for undergraduates and 30 volumes for graduates may be borrowed at all libraries and Student Reading Rooms. The Room has a full array of Japanese language teaching materials for students studying Japanese in accordance with their level of proficiency and their reasons for studying. The Japanese Language Students’ Reading Room also lends dictionaries, as well as compact disks, and other audio study aids, to assist international students in studying Japanese.
