Study abroad @ Taiwan

Profile

Name in full:Yumi Masuda
Nationality :Japan
Field of Study / graduated program at Waseda:
School of International Liberal Studies (with emphasis on development economics)
Academic Supervisor at Waseda:Dr. Takeshi Daimon
Country visited: Taiwan (Republic of China)
Length of study: One year (2007.8-2008.6)
University visited:National Taiwan Normal University
Affiliated program at visited University:Chinese and English(communication studies)

What is the most impressive memory at that university?

My most memorable memory is creating a dance team with other international students. Practice was difficult because we had to teach the very basics to beginners and there were communication problems with people who didn't speak English or Chinese. However, we practiced hard even in the blistering heat and were able to win second place at the school's talent show. Through this, we gained attention in the school and were even able to establish a dance club. We were able to create a place for exchange between students from Taiwan and other countries through dance.

Could you please tell us about yourself after studying abroad?
For example, how did the exchange program change your life decisions, your life style?

During my job hunt right after my study abroad, I was offered a job by a PC maker in Taiwan due to my Chinese and English language skills. Also, I wanted to share how great studying abroad is to students considering the option; I am now active as a study abroad advisor.

Any message to the WiN members?

Please enjoy your life in Japan and treasure each encounter!
