学内選考プロセス
(Note: This is made based on the past recruitment. Make sure to check the latest information.)
 
Application (twice a year)
First Recruitment : June (departure: the followng Spring) Southern Hemisphere / Korea / parts of South America
Second Recruitment: October (departure: the following Fall) Most of the regions and all programs except for the ones required in June.
*The recruiting timetable for the Portland State University (America) study abroad program is different. Please refer to the PSU program guidelines for more information.
 
Eligibility
(1)Registration
You should be registered at Waseda University as a full-time student at the time of the application and while on the programs with a good academic standing and strong inter-personal skills. (Students who will graduate while on the programs are not eligible.)

(2)Language Proficiency
You are required to obtain the necessary TOEFL score for the programs conducted in English.
Note 1)An original score card must be submitted. TOEFL-ITP is not acceptable.
Note 2)Validity: TOEFL score is valid for 2 years after you took the test. Please note that you will be required to take TOEFL again in case TOEFL you had taken is expired at the time of the application to the host university.
In the programs held in non-English speaking countries, you must meet the language proficiency required by each program.
 
Documents to submit
Here are the necessary documents. The documents vary by each recruitement. Please check information at the latest one.
(1) Language Proficiency Certificate:
The original score card of TOEFL CBT, PBT or iBT is required for programs in English.
The original score card of the relevant Language Proficiency Test is required for the programs in languages other than English.
(2) Study/Research Plan: In Japanese and the local language
(3) Letter of recommendation by a Waseda University teaching staff:
Please use the designated recommendation form and ensure it is properly sealed in the designated envelope.
(4) The latest academic transcript in English:
every course available at the time of application. (i.e. For students in a Doctoral course, the certificate of all courses of an undergraduate, Master's courses and Doctoral courses taken.)
The academic transcript of the high school in English is required for the students in the first year of an undergraduate.
(5) Application Agreement for studying abroad program:
The agreement that you will not withdraw after you are selected, and so forth.
(6) Submit the programs you wish to participate in
 
Screening Procedure
(This was the screening process up to last uear to be used as a reference)

Students are assessed and ranked based on their language proficiency, GPA, study/research plan, interview, results of the written exam, screening of candidates by their respective schools, and recommendation letters from two professors, and nominated to the programs according to their preferences from the most eligible students down. (some programs do not require an interview and/or written exam)

 
Notes for the application
  • You are not allowed to withdraw from the program once you are selected as a nominee. If you withdraw from the programs, you are no longer eligible to apply any other Waseda University Study Abroad programs. When you apply to your affiliated or department school exchange programs, you will not allowed to apply university wide exchange programs.
  • You cannot apply for inter-division agreement programs and study abroad programs at the same time.
  • Being nominated by Waseda University means you are now eligible to apply to the host university. Please note that the final decision concerning your admission rests with the host university.
  • All the credits you earn at the host university may not be transferred to Waseda University. Whether or not your credit will be approved depends on your undergraduate or graduate school. Therefore, please consult with your department before applying as the time taken to complete your degree may be prolonged based on your credit acquisition circumstance. Please note that in some cases graduation in 4 years (undergraduate) may not be possible.
  • Please note that, depending on the program, you may not be able to register for all the classes you wish to take due to prerequisite requirements, limits on student numbers, and other factors.
  • Students participating in these Waseda study abroad programs must join the designated Waseda University overseas health insurance program.
