Foreign nationals who wish to leave Japan temporarily and reenter to continue their residence in Japan within their authorized period of stay need not obtain a new visa from a Japanese embassy or consulate abroad, if they have received a re-entry permit before they leave Japan.
If you are returning home temporarily or visiting another country, you are advised to obtain a Re-Entry Permit from the Immigration Office before leaving Japan.
A re-entry permit is generally valid for only one trip but there is also a multiple re-entry permit valid for one year.
You should bring your passport, Foreign Resident Registration Cerfiticate (a plastic card) Card, Student I.D. Card, and \3,000(\6,000 for multiple re-entry permit) for immigration procedure fees. The application form is available at the CIE as well as at the
Immigration Office.
As other documents required differ depending on the applicant's nationality, you are advised to inquire directly to the Immigration Office. |
